Who is taken? and who is left?

Who is taken? and Who is left?

Let us have a look at Matthew 24:37-42 and see what JESUS says about who is taken? and who is left? We will also loot at the corresponding verses in Luke as well.

The first mistake people have made in the belief that if you are right with GOD. You will be the one that is taken. This is because they start at verses 40 and do not refer to the previous verses, from verse 37. Why do they do this? It is because their doctrine would not hold up if they started from verse 37. This is done with a lot of doctrines in the Christian religion. Let us have a look at where they start.

Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Matthew 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

From these verses (40, 41), we can come up with any theory. Take for example the secret rapture theory. It is where people will be going about their everyday life and all of a sudden the driver of the bus is gone! The person that you are talking to in the street is suddenly gone! The pilot is gone! You get the idea. Hollywood has made movies out of this. First, how can you believe in movies anyway? It does not even matter if a ‘Christian’ made the movies. It takes you away from prayer and studying the Bible. Also it takes you away from doing the work that GOD has for you to do.

It is very dangerous to take a couple of verses out of the Bible and then to build a theory around the.

Let us have a look from verse 37 and see if we get a different story from the one above.

Matthew 24:37 But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

JESUS first starts off with Noah (Noe). We all know the story of Noah. How the flood came and destroyed the animals, plants and people. He links the story of Noah to when He is going to come back.

Matthew 24:38 For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark,

So the people were not bothered with the warning from Noah. The building of the ark did not bother them anymore. They just carried on with life as normal. The problem came when Noah entered into the ark. Now the people saw the animals enter in on their own. They saw the door of the ark closed.

Then after seven days they started to worry when the rain came!

Matthew 24:39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be.

Here is the verse that we need to pay attention to! The flood came and took them away! Who was taken? The wicked. Who was left? Noah and his family were left in the ark. The rest of the people died in the flood. They were taken away!

Now let us look at the verses where the people that believe differently start. Let us see if we now get a different picture. Just remember that changing beliefs is very hard. Only JESUS that is the truth can help us to get over the false theories, doctrines and teachings that we have all been taught!

Matthew 24:40 Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Now, who is taken? You see, we can come up with another theory than what JESUS was teaching. Then that would be a false doctrine! JESUS said in verses 37-39 that it was the wicked that were taken. Who is left? The righteous are left for JESUS to take to Heaven. These are the people that will be caught up to meet JESUS in the air. The righteous will be left!

1 Thessalonians 4:17 Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

You see how dangerous it is not to read the verses above to see if the person that you are listening to, or reading is telling the truth!

Matthew 24:41 Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

You have to compare these verses (40-41) to the rest of the story of Noah. You can’t separate them!

Matthew 24:42 Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.

Now in Luke 17 people will start at verse 34. This is incorrect as the story starts with Noah in verses 26 and then moves onto Lot’s wife in verse 28. So JESUS has added more to the story than He said in Matthew.

Luke 17:26 And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man.

Again a comparison to Noah and when JESUS second coming.

Luke 17:27 They did eat, they drank, they married wives, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

Now JESUS moves over to Lot and his story.

Luke 17:28 Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

Luke 17:29 But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

Who was taken? The wicked were taken away. Destroyed! Who was left? Lot and his family.

Luke 17:30 Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

JESUS says that it will be the same when He comes back. So who is taken? And who is left?

Luke 17:31 In that day, he which shall be upon the housetop, and his stuff in the house, let him not come down to take it away: and he that is in the field, let him likewise not return back.

Luke 17:32 Remember Lot's wife.

Luke 17:33 Whosoever shall seek to save his life shall lose it; and whosoever shall lose his life shall preserve it.

JESUS has added something extra into His story from Matthew. We must not look at our earthly things otherwise we too will be destroyed. Taken away!

Luke 17:34 I tell you, in that night there shall be two men in one bed; the one shall be taken, and the other shall be left.

Luke 17:35 Two women shall be grinding together; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

Luke 17:36 Two men shall be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left.

These verses are to be compared to the rest of the story from Noah to Lot. Only then can we make a correct interpretation of what JESUS is telling us!
